RAA has a long history of assisting youngsters, but like everything else in life, things have had to change and progress. Particularily, with the recently introduced Safeguarding and Protecting Children Legislation. It was decided back in 2007 to re-launch the junior section, but with a more structured approach,so that we could reassure parents that all the necessary precautions were being taken to ensure the safety and well being of their children.
Four of our members,Allan Warrington,Stuart Metcalf, Gary and Neil Wright, acquired ADB level one coach status in 2010. In April 2011 Allan Warrington and Neil Wright became ADB level 2 coaches. This has now allowed the club, with all the relevant CRB checks, insurances and procedures in place to start structured coaching sessions. These began in May 2011 at The Burrs, Bury on Monday nights and will run throughout the summer periods, weather and daylight permitting. RAA juniors fished a number of competitions during 2011 and fared very well considering the length of time established. This coming season Junior match Secretary Allan Warrington has planned a few junior matches.
