Second Senior Match Results

The second Senior match took place on Lake 6 at Bradshaw Hall Fisheries on Saturday 13th April. The weather had been improving over the previous few days, but a combination of the number of anglers taking part (16 out of 18 pegs used) and the cold wind meant that yet again it was going to be hard work.

This proved to be the case, with the wind in particular playing having with fishing at distance and the cold water not conducive to the fish feeding.

Winner of the match with 32lb 12oz was Jason Wright

2nd place went to Brent Cargill with 20lb 15oz

3rd place was Aaron Wright with 15lb 14oz

Section wins went to Gary Wright and Barry Unsworth and Paul Choppy missed out by 5oz again!!!!

Well done to the framers and all who took part.

Next match is on Saturday 27th April, Bradshaw Hall Fisheries – Lake 9, which is the first League match of the season. Draw is at 9am sharp – if you are late, we will draw without you.

Please bring the following with you:

Ramsbottom Angling Association permit

Environment Agency rod license

Please contact Lee on 07931 570581 to book on.

First Senior Match Results

The Senior match season kicked off at Bradshaw Hall Fisheries on Lake 6. Due to the number of anglers taking part it was a pole only match. Normal service was quickly resumed with Lee Long drawing a flyer and Paul Corser stuck off in a corner!!

The recent increase in temperatures had seen some bigger weights coming off the Open competitions, but it proved to be hard session with the water going very quiet for long periods of time. However, everyone stuck at it and it was good to shake off the cobwebs and to knock the dust off the equipment.

Winner of the Royston Cup with 39lb 9oz Aaron Wright who fished Peg 18 worm on the deck at 14.5mtrs

2nd Barry Hill with 33lb 15oz Peg 10

3rd Ste Kenyon with 33lb 7oz Peg 7

Section wins went to Lee Long and Paul Corser

Well done to the framers and all who took part.

Next match is on Saturday 13th April, Bradshaw Hall Fisheries – Lake 6

Fly Tying Coaching Session

What a good evening fly tying. Tony and Gwyneth were excellent, again, and the youngsters picked up more knowledge and skills. Our Secretary got as much pleasure as the youngsters just need to get him on the water now.

Next up, on Thursday 28th February, we have got Howard Kelly (Matrix) who is going to show you how elastication of poles works and also float shotting. WE HAVE LIMITED PLACES so you must contact Lee on 07931 570581 to secure your place (this will work on a first come first serve basis).

Notes from Senior Match Meeting

There was a great turnout from members at the meeting – which was great to see.

*This year’s charity match will be held on Saturday 6th July on Bradshaw Lake 9 and we have asked Allan Dye to select this year’s charity.
*All fishery rules must be abided by all and all rubbish must be removed from your peg failure to carry this out may result from being banned from other matches
*Non members may join us on match days as guests if there are pegs available but will only be able to fish a maximum of 2 matches over the year. They will be able to join the pools but are not entitled to win any trophies.
*Payout on match days will be. The top 3 and depending on amount of anglers sections will be put in place.
*To qualify for a gift on our fur and feather match you must have participated in 2 other matches as a member through the year.
*This year there will be checks carried out by Paul and myself to make sure that you all have a valid rod licence and you have a RAA membership.
*Graham Walsh will be looking after the over 50s matches
*All match results will be posted on FB and on our Website
*The top 3 anglers will be asked of how they have approached the match. This is so we can pass the information to our junior coaching sessions.
*On each match there will be a bucket placed to collect all unused baits this will then be used towards out feeding programmes on our own waters..
